Why Cyber Security Should be a Key Concern for IoT Implementations: BlackBerry Report
BlackBerry recently released key findings from a research paper where it surveyed IT decision makers on enterprise IoT deployments.
It found that cyber security is a key concern regarding deployment of digital technologies for 63% of respondents while only 37% actually have a formal digital transformation strategy as far as IoT implementations are concerned.
However, the research dwelled on the importance of IoT deployments vis-a-vis security concerns that have been elucidated. The proliferation of IoT is driven by enterprises globally but they require a unified end-to-end security management strategy that is capable of scaling up to handle a billion connected devices.
78% of respondents showed a keen interest in solutions that help them manage all endpoints at one place. The organisations understand that with billions of connected devices as part of an IoT deployment, they are only as secure as their most vulnerable endpoint.
Most IT heads agree that they are least prepared against external threats as almost 61% or respondents mentioned hacking and cyber warfare as their immediate concerns. 39% of the respondents from very large organisations feel that a lack of collaboration among the different internal departments is a huge barrier to unified endpoint management but as many as 51% of respondents from mid-sized organisations cite it as a key concern.
